One-Time Volunteer Opportunities

Saint Louis University’s Center for Social Action promotes many forms of community engagement, from episodic service to more in-depth involvement. This list of one-time volunteer opportunities will help SLU students, faculty or staff make a difference based on your schedule and interests. Many are perfect for groups.

Feeding Families Program

What: Volunteers are needed to help deliver ready-to-eat or ready-to-heat meals to families with young children who are food insecure, through this program sponsored by the SLU School of Social Work. Volunteers receive training.
When: 10:30 a.m. - Noon, Fridays throughout March and April (March 13, 20, 27 and April 3, 10, 17, 24)

What: Volunteers are needed for an Easter Egg Hunt stuffing event, filling eggs with candy for the upcoming Easter Egg Hunt for our families.

Tower Grove Park

What: Volunteers are needed for our East Stream Volunteer Days, helping maintain the new plantings at the East Stream Restoration Project. Tasks include identifying native plants, pulling weeds, hauling plant materials, etc.

What: Volunteers are needed for our therapeutic playgroup sessions with youth ages 3-8 who have Down syndrome, helping with games, therapies and other activities.

BJC Hospice

What: Volunteers are needed to help make no-sew fleece blankets for our adult hospice patients. The only skills needed are the ability to cut fabric and tie knots. We will supply the fabric and scissors..
