The World’s Greatest Pep Band Turns up the Volume for March Madness

The lively Billiken Pep Band in blue jerseys performs in bleachers, creating an energetic atmosphere. Students play various instruments, and a crowd watches.

The Billiken Pep Band is the soundtrack of Saint Louis University basketball. And this season — as the men’s team nets the Atlantic 10’s No. 1 spot and goes undefeated at home — the pep band has been striking exactly the right note.

President Edward Feser, Ph.D., School of Medicine Dean Christine Jacobs, M.D., and Chaifetz School of Business Dean Jackson Nickerson, Ph.D., were named to St. Louis Magazine’s St. Louis Business 500, a guide to some of the St. Louis metropolitan area's most influential, impactful, and innovative leaders. New Student Scholarship

SLU Launches Tuition Promise Covering Full Undergraduate Tuition for Eligible Students

Starting in fall 2026, eligible first-time freshmen will be able to attend the University without paying undergraduate tuition through a new initiative aimed at expanding college access and affordability. The SLU Tuition Promise is for students from families with a combined Adjusted Gross Income of $60,000 or less and limited assets.

University Receives 2026 Senator Paul Simon Award for Comprehensive Internationalization

SLU Professor’s Book On Underground Urbanism Earns Major Anthropology Awards

Bruce O’Neill, Ph.D., professor of sociology and anthropology, has earned recognition for his book, "Underground: Dreams and Degradations in Bucharest." The book won the Anthony Leeds Prize in Urban Anthropology and the William A. Douglas Prize in Europeanist Anthropology.

Family and Community Medicine Professor Recognized by National Catholic Health Association

Fred Rottnek, M.D., has been named the 2026 winner of the Sister Carol Keehan Award by the Catholic Health Association (CHA). The award is given annually to someone who advances the healing mission of Jesus by valiantly advocating for a more equitable and compassionate health system.

SLU Grandmaster Aryan Chopra Brings Global Chess Experience to Collegiate Stage

Chopra will compete with the University's chess team at the National Collegiate Chess Championship from March 21-22. One of the youngest players to earn the grandmaster title, Chopra brings elite international experience to collegiate chess while balancing his studies as a business major at SLU.

SLU to Co-Host the 2026 Summit for Water Exploring Water in One Health

The University's WATER Institute, the National Great Rivers Research and Education Center, and the St. Louis Aquarium Foundation are co-hosting the two-day 2026 SLU Summit for Water: Water in One Health: The Environmental, Animal, and Human Health Nexus. The first day of the summit, Wednesday, March 25, will be held at SLU, with a second day of programming on Thursday, March 26, offered virtually.
